by John Woo with Tony Leung, Jun Hoo, Ling Chi-Ling, and Takeshi Kaneshiro and several other great actors.

However this trailer didn't really move me; Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei, and Guan Yu all looked a little off to me, but I have yet to see their performance in theater so I can't say too much; Takeshi Kaneshiro as Zhugeliang is a great idea, but that guy...is just too handsome...I mean I can't get rid of the image of him as this handome guy, I hope, I TRULY hope he can do a good job as Zhugeliang...PLEASE!

Zhang Zhen looked great as Sun Quan, Lin Chi Ling looked quite well as Xiao Qiao, she's stunning looking and sorry to say I think that's all there is. Tony Leung looks great as ever, I think he should be playing Zhugeliang, but who cares, Zhou Yu is equally charming; I'm sure he'll pull it off. Zhao Wei as Sun ShangXiang is kinda weird, I think she's extremely difficult to play, but so does everyone else.

And Cao Cao...honestly when I saw the last scene in the trailer I was really disappointed. I don't know about this actor, but I already don't like the way he talks in the beginning and the end. In my mind Cao Cao should talk with a lower, heavier tone.

John Woo said that this film had been his "dream", that he had dreamed of making this film for more than 15 years, I loved his films and I hope this film will turn out to be the epic that I imagined it would be, though I don't quite like the trailer.

A word to the trailer making people. FUCK THE SEX SCENE, I like Lin Chi Ling but I don't need to see that shit, we've seen enough of Tony Leung in Lust. Caution. FUCK the white dove, I already know it's directed by John Woo, it's stupid to place that in the end, so fucking commercial shit. And I don't need to know that it costs 80 million USD to make, shit, The Godfather took like 500K to make and it became one of the greatest film ever produced in history.

However, given all this, I'm happy that Chinese film makers finally made some of my tiny dreams come true...a San Guo movie, there are just too much expectations from me personally and everyone else, whatever happens I will buy this movie and place it at the top my shelf for sure.

By the way I'm in Taiwan, Happy Chinese New Year folks! I'm drinking beer, and you should too! Hahhahahahahaha!!!

One more thing, where the hell are Pang Tong and Huang Gai...and maybe Jiang Gan?

Mystery Film "01-18-08" produced by J.J. Abrams

This is a trailer of an up coming film titled: "01-18-08" seen at the Transformer's previews, little else is known besides that it is produced by J.J. Abrams, who is the executive producers of many hits such as LOST, Startrek, and Alias.



Now many have suspected that it is definitely a monster attack in the NYC, but who, or what could it be?

From my personal research here are the possible candidates:

1. Godzilla


Since the main character is going to Japan, and given the fact that Godzilla is a fictional character from Japanese films, it is easy to associate such theme to the almighty Godzilla; plus, Godzilla spits fireballs, laser beams, and is definitely capable of ripping off the head of the Statue of Liberty and throw it couple of hundred miles away. In addition, Godzilla LOVES to roar.

2. Some aliens

In all possible aspects, it is safe to assume that it is yet another Alien invasion movie, I mean what else can possibly generate the explosions and all that? But then this movie will deinitely suck if it is another alien movie.

3. Cthulu


I don't know what Cthulu is but then this is what most YouTube viewers suggest, for further readings please just go to Wikipedia.

4. Dragon Ball Z


Hm... why not?

5. Chuck Norris


When all things fail, you can always count on this guy for being responsible...

My rate: 9.0

Being the expected greatest box-office movie for the summer, I'd say it definitely lived up to many people's expectations. Easily one of the most action-packed and entertaining film for the year.

The action sequences are breath-taking; I don't know why I just get that chill when I see the autobots transforms each and every time, it doesn't really get old, perhaps the reason is due to the director Michale Bay's incorporation many creative camera angles in the films. I don't want to spoil it but expect to see speed, action, fights, slow-mo, explosions for a huge part of the film!

Another thing worth mentioning is the humor. Aside from all seriousness from the story line, the our protagonist: Sam (played by Shia LaBeouf) did a fabulous job portraying a witty, nerdy teenage boy who just happened to encounter Bumble bee. Through out the movies many relaxing humorous moments will intertwine the intense actions, which leaves the audience with non-stop entertainment.

The plot was quite simple; I've never really watched the original Transformer cartoons, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out what is going on with the film, the theme is simple as the poster suggests: "Some come to destroy us, some come to protect.", it's a plain ol' good vs. evil thing, however, for the most part, the old school Transformer heads all pretty much agreed that the personalities and characteristics matched pretty well from the movie, so more power to Michael Bay.

Overall, it is definitely worthed the $10 dollars spent and time waiting in line; if you want a true entertaining film, this is one to go for! The film is action, humor, love, soldiers, robots, laser beams, fighting in Cities, air craft chasing, speed and all Transformer!

Zatoichi by Takshi Kitano aka BEAT Takeshi

This is one of Takeshi Kitano's newest film, it is a remake of an old classic Japanese samurai drama, the blind swordsman - Zatoichi.

The plot is quite simple, the hero Zatoichi travels into a town controlled by a bunch of gangsters; the gangsters hired this YOJIMBO (bodyguard) that is highly skilled and is dedicated to provide his wife proper health care that comes with high cost.

However, the plot isn't really relevant, the most important feature in this film is still the good ol' Takeshi's direction along with the subtle coolness of the actors.

The action is spectacular, the fight scenes are quite unique in the sense that it incorporates the real Japanese samurai fightings. Unlike traditional Chinese Kung-Fu fightings, the fight scenes in this movie demonstrated real fightings in the old times in Japan, almost every kill you find in the movie will not involve more than 5 draws of the sword. I find this movie closely resembles the comic: Vagabond by Inoue. Where most samurais finish their opponents with one or two blows from the sword.

The CG effect, particularly from the blood was not as realistic, but it adds the effect in a way to convince audience that, "Damn, that must've hurt!", and in this sense, it's all good, because you don't really need to question all fight sequences in a way that all physical damages must make sense, I mean, come on, you don't want to see a katana stuck in a human body while the person who executed the attack was a legendary swordsman.

The acting was fabulous. I love the Yojimbo, I don't konw his name but I know he is in Ichi the Killer, his performance as a skilled bodyguard was great. The way he drew his swords and the attitude he gave before slaying his victims were quite convincing as a real swordsman.

Another great feature in this film is the music and dances. Kitano was known to be fond of tap dancing, this time, he invited The Stripes as the main choreographers in the movie. Through out the film, viewers get to see and hear unique and creative sound effects and absolutely breath taking tap dancing sequences as seen above. This adds so much more to the movie.

Overall, I love the concept of this movie as an entertaining film, and I recommend anyone who has some free time who enjoys the Kitano style film to just sit back and enjoy this short story of a lone swordsman.
